
Panasonic Completes Acquisition of U.S.-Based Industrial
Laser Start-up TeraDiode, Inc.
TeraDiode becomes 100% Subsidiary of Panasonic
Wilmington, MA – TeraDiode, Inc. (TeraDiode) announced today that the merger transaction signed on January 2, 2017, wherein Panasonic Corporation (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan) will acquire all its shares, has closed. With the closing of the transaction, TeraDiode will become a 100% subsidiary of Panasonic. This structure will enable Panasonic to accelerate the growth of its laser processing businesses by integrating TeraDiode’s proprietary wavelength beam combined direct diode laser (DDL) technology with Panasonic’s capabilities and global reach. Panasonic and TeraDiode will now jointly drive the rapid expansion of ultra-bright DDL technology and strengthen the laser processing business as a new core business of Panasonic in the factory solutions field.
